In December 2006 BTE commenced a 5 year project to remove the notorious Morning glory Vine Ipomoea indica from a 3.5 acre patch of land owned by the Department of Main Roads. This "canopy killer" vine has wreaked havock in this area and was smothering and killing native vegetation on this and adjacent sites.
Three years into the project and inspite of a serious landslip in the centre of the site, which has recently been replanted, this project is progressing well with all remnant native vegetation free of morning glory and the remaining areas either revegetated or regenerating with native rainforest species.
