Project Gallery

Richard's Crt, Caboolture

This site is located, at Bellmere (near Caboolture) on a small tributary that flows into Waraba Creek. Our project work started in early 2009 over an area that is approximately 5 acres. Balloon Vine (Cardiospermum grandiflorum) is the primary degrading factor to be addressed, (along with the historical clearance of the majority of the original remnant vegetation).

Besides environemental weed management, over a thousand trees have also been planted on the site, to widen the native vegetation corridor along the creek and replace the depauperate exotic grass land which was dominated by Pigeon Grass (Setaria sphacelata).

The remant vegetation community is indicative of RE: 12.3.1 (Gallery Rainforest - notophyll vine forest on alluvial plains)  an endangered ecological community. Some unusual species for this area, found on the site include Backhousia citriodora, Argyrodendron sp kin kin and Syzygium francisii.

A mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroo (Macropus giganteus) also call the site home, and our plan is to re-instate the ecosytem RE: 12.3.3 (Eucalyptus tereticornis woodland to open forest on alluvial plains) in the areas that they utilise, to maintain and improve habitat availability.
