August's Awesome Plants: What's that smell?

Spring has almost begun here in Maleny and I am often wandering around wondering what that beautiful smell is. Hovea acutifolia is in full flower at the moment and looking spectacular. But have you smelt it? Gorgeous - like vanilla infused honey!

Here's some other spring flowers with a beautiful smell.

Callicoma serratifolia -  Callicoma

Attractive tree to 18m, that enjoys rainforest and wet eucalypt forests. The distinctive serrated leaves and globular white flower heads make this tree a wonderful addition to any garden or reveg. project.

Argyrodendron trifoliolatum - White booyong

This is one of my favourite trees - for its shape, beautiful bell-shaped flowers and attractive brown winged seed capsule. A tall buttressed tree to 40m. Large leaves in groups of 3 or 5, with silvery-brown undersides.
